STUDY SAVIOUR
Types of speeches:
❖ FORMAL SPEECH- have rules and traditions that everyone is expected to
follow; langage would be formal, polite, often not too controversial, and
with an educated choice of words.
❖ INFORMAL SPEECH- allows for a more relaxed approach, often with a
conversational style, allowing for interaction.
❖ PERSUASIVE SPEECH- identifies a problem, depicts the benefit of
agreeing, has a valid argument made, is structured + uses logically
linked facts.
❖ INFORMATIVE SPEECH- has a purpose to educate the audience with
interesting and useful information that is relevant to them; facts are
presented logically, without bias and there ought to be no argument in
the context.
❖ POLITICAL SPEECH- aims to motivate the audience to take one's side on
an issue of public interest; facts used ought to be both current and
relevant + logically structured.
❖ HUMOROUS SPEECH- Aims to entertain the audience based on
experiences that they’re able to relate to; this kind of speech ought,
additionally, to have some kind of purpose to it, or else it lacks impact.
❖ VOTE OF THANKS SPEECH- these speeches are oftentimes shorter in
length, often giving gratitude to the main speaker + also addressing and
