MindTap 01 Introduction to Networking
Topology - ANS-How the parts of a whole work together
Physical topology - ANS-Mostly refers to a network's hardware and how computers, other
devices, and cables or radio signal work together to form the physical network
Logical Topology - ANS-Mostyl refers to software controls access to netowork resources (
inlcuding how users and software initially gain access to the network) and how specific
resources such as applications and databases are sahred on the network
P2P (Peer to peer) - ANS-the operating system of each computer on the network is responsible
for controlling access to its resources without centralized control.
Scalable - ANS-The property of a network that allows the addition of nodes or increasing its size
easily
Client-server netowork model - ANS-A network where resources are managed by the NOS(
Netowrk Operating system) Via A centralized directory database
Domain - ANS-In the context of windows server, a group of users, servers, and other resources
that share account and security policies
AD (Active Directory - ANS-The centralized directory database that contains user account
information and security for the entire group of computers on a network.
AD DS ( act - ANS-The Active Directory service that manages the process allowing a user to
sign on to a network from any computer on the network and get access to the resources that
Active Directory manages.
Client - ANS-A computer or application that makes a request from another computer or
application
RAID - ANS-Redundant array of independent disks
Network services - ANS-A resource the network makes available to its users, including
Client server application - ANS-Data or service requested by one computer from another
Protocols - ANS-A standard method or format for communication between netowork devices
