1.Describe what public relations research is about. (4)
Public Relations Research refers to the process of gathering,
analyzing, and interpreting information to help organizations
understand their target audiences, the effectiveness of their
communication strategies, and the public perception of their
brand or message. It involves both qualitative and quantitative
methods, such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and content
analysis. The goal of public relations research is to provide data-
driven insights that inform decisions on how to develop and
improve public relations campaigns, build relationships with
stakeholders, and manage the reputation of an organization. It can
help identify key issues, monitor media coverage, track public
opinion, and measure the impact of PR activities, ultimately
ensuring that the organization’s communication strategies are
aligned with its goals and objectives.
2.Using your own words, identify and discuss Two (2) designs
associated with an experimental design

Two Designs Associated with Experimental Research
In experimental research, researchers manipulate variables to
observe their effects on other variables. There are several
designs used to structure such experiments, but two of the most

, common are the True Experimental Design and the Quasi-
Experimental Design.
1. True Experimental Design
A true experimental design is the most rigorous and
controlled type of experimental research. It involves three
key components: randomization, control groups, and
manipulation of independent variables. In this design,
participants are randomly assigned to different groups, such
as an experimental group (which receives the treatment or
intervention) and a control group (which does not).
Random assignment ensures that any differences observed
between the groups are due to the manipulation of the
independent variable, rather than pre-existing differences
among participants. This type of design allows researchers
to establish cause-and-effect relationships, as the
controlled environment and randomization reduce the
likelihood of external factors influencing the results. A
classic example is a clinical trial where one group receives
a new drug, and another group receives a placebo.
2. Quasi-Experimental Design
A quasi-experimental design is similar to a true
experimental design but lacks random assignment to
groups. This type of design is used when it is not feasible
or ethical to randomly assign participants to different
conditions. Instead, quasi-experimental designs often rely
on pre-existing groups or conditions, such as different
classes in a school or different regions in a city. While this
design can still measure the effects of an independent
variable, it is harder to make strong claims about causality
because there may be confounding variables or biases due
