Technology and Media

Media
The media can have both positive and negative effects on sport. People that dont watch or
play sports will understand and are aware of sports through the media.

● Motivate people to take part
● Introduces new supports to sport
● Publicise a variety of sports and activities
● Give the sport a high status in society
● Give people sense of belonging
● Generate revenue and attract investment for sport
● Generate revenue for charity

Negative influences:
● Intrude on performances privacy
● Undermine people's confidence and careers
● SHowcase negative values and behaviour
● Undermine officials and their decisions
● Edit coverage so it is incomplete or biased
● Reduce spectator attendance at live events
