Assignment 2: Analysing Individuals performance
Introduction/scenario: I have ended up getting a job as an analyst apprenticeship with NGB as they liked my
presentation about boxing/squash and the foundations of it. Which resulted in success as I have managed to
impress them with my performance analysis. Which the employers have given me a project to work on, which
will involve me analysing selected athletes on individual sports. They have also asked me to assess the ability
of the athlete and give feedback regarding their performance as I analysis their performance and give results
back.

Task 1:

We have participated in multiple sports and I have chosen Badminton as my sport. I have chosen to give
feedback too, 1 participate called Brandon. Also, I have done two different types of analysis methods to see
how he has performed when I assess him.

My methods of analysis were…

Observation checklist/ Video analysing: Brandon

One way that I have analysed Brandon performance in badminton is by using an observation checklist method
to see his strengths and weaknesses. An observation checklist will have a list of things that can be observed
such as attributes that may-be used with/in the game or how someone uses them when playing badminton.
Which then you write the score down and add everything up to give an even score which will indicate how well
you have done overall, which will show players overall performance.

Another way that I have analysed someone’s performance is by videoing him playing a sport like Badminton,
which allows me to see every move and play that the players make. As I can also reply the video back to back
which allows me to keep on analysing Brandon performance.

The strengths that Brandon had in the game were…

Good Concentration:

Within gameplay, when Brandon was playing against another opponent (Connor), Brandon was able to
maintain his concentration within the game at all-times whether it was serving, returning the shots. He was
having the eye on the shuttle at all-times. Which has allowed him to perform much better as he was making
fewer mistakes. Which means that fewer points are being lost throughout the game. Which increase chances
of winning because he is not losing as many points also another advantage is that he does not give much
opportunity to the opponent to excel. Because of good concentration, he is making every shot/ return and
count. Which also good because this means that the opponent will have a harder time playing as Brandon is
making fewer mistakes and most important won’t be as big of danger within the game because he can’t
counter-attack to win points as there is nothing to counter from or to make the game more difficult as Brandon
is exciting everything which there for Connor will have a struggle when playing against him.

Further Development:

A Further Development would be to make sure that you keep it, and most of all improve it, and a way to do it
is by playing different opponents and maybe start increasing the number of people that are watching. As this
will help with concentration as more you do it, you will get used to it there for you will be comfortable with
