Toelichting

Six Sigma is een tool om processen te verbeteren. De verbetering legt de focus op het betrouwbaar
maken van processen en op het reduceren van de variabiliteit binnen deze processen.

Volgens Six Sigma zijn er 2 soorten variabiliteit:

- Lukrake variabiliteit: allerlei toevalligheden kunnen kleine variaties in data veroorzaken.
- Specifieke variabiliteit: variabelen die een onverwacht patroon in de data doen veroorzaken
en waaraan een oorzaak kan worden toegewezen.

Six Sigma focust zich voornamelijk op de specifieke variabiliteit.

Hiërarchische verdeling

Six Sigma werkt aan de hand van projecten die beperkt met elkaar samenhangen. Binnen deze
projecten is er een strikte rolverdeling, het is hiërarchisch ingericht.

Verdeling volgens het boek:

- Champion: topmanager die het project sponsort.
- Process owner: professional binnen de organisatie verantwoordelijk voor het project.
- Black belt: leider van het Six Sigma project, getraind in het gebruik van de tools, fulltime
bezig met het project.
- Green belt: werknemer, korte training, doet mee aan het project naast gewone
werkzaamheden, kan kleinere projecten leiden.
- Yellow belt: levert informatie toe aan het project, beperkte training in Six Sigma.

Verdeling volgens het college:

- Executive: own vision, direction, integration, results; lead change.
- Champion: project owner, implement solutions, black belt managers
- Master black belt: full time, train and coach black and green belts; statistical problem solving
experts.
- Black belt: devote 50-100% of time to black belt activities, facilitate and practice problem
solving, train and coach green belts and project teams.
- Green belt: part-time, help black belts.
- Project member: part-time, project-specific.

DMAIC

Projecten van Six Sigma beginnen altijd met een project charter, waarin het doel, de scope en de
planning van het project worden vastgelegd, alsook de betrokken teamleden met hun rol in het
project.
