Find three passages from the novel that help you find answers to the bulleted questions on
the blue sheet. Place those passages in the graphic organizer below and complete each of
the steps.
Consider the following questions:
➔ To what extent does your author follow this stage of the hero’s journey?
➔ How does he depart from the plot archetype? Why would the author
include those departures? How does the departure characterize the
protagonist and the time period and society in which he lives?
