Hierarchy of civil courts
Supreme court – binds all lower courts but bound by itself.
Can overrule itself.
Court of appeal- must follow supreme court and binds all lower courts.
Can’t change previous decisions.
High court – king’s bench: personal injury and fatal claims, professional
negligence
Chancery and family
Must follow all higher courts but binds lower courts.
Can change own decisions.
Divisions don’t bind each other.
County court- must follow all higher courts.
Can change their own previous decisions.
Tribunal court- follow all above courts.
Can change own previous decisions.
