A CHRISTMAS CAROL:
CAST
CHARACTERS
Main cast:

Ebenezer Scrooge
The miserly protagonist of the novella. Described as a squeezing,
grasping, and covetous old sinner, Scrooge undergoes a transformation in
the story after the events that took place over Christmas eve – Christmas
day. Initially, scrooge denies the excitement and cheer of Christmas but
eventually changes his ways.

Bob Cratchit
Father of Tiny Tim and hard worker at heart, Bob Cratchit is the over-
worked under-paid clerk of Ebenezer scrooge. Bob symbolises the poor
working conditions, long working hours and poor pay endured by working
class people in the Victorian era.

Fred
Nephew of scrooge, Fred is the symbol of hope in ‘A Christmas Carol’. He
embodies the true spirit of the holiday season, and his character serves as
a reminder of the importance of kindness and love in a world too often
focused on material wealth. Fred is a great example of a foil, his
Christmas spirit being much more prominent than scrooges.
