23 March 1933 Enabling Act allowed Reich cabinet and Chancellor to past laws and
act without the approval of the Reichstag or the Chancellor - T
March 22, 1933 - Establishment of Dachau Concentration Camp – T
March 23rd: The Enabling Act is passed, effectively allowing Hitler to pass laws
without the Reichstag – T.
April 01, 1933 - Anti-Jewish Boycott. Members of the Nazi Party and its affiliated
organizations organize a nationwide boycott of Jewish-owned businesses in Germany.

April 07, 1933 - Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service German law
excludes Jews and other political opponents from civil service positions. - T
May 10, 1933 Book Burning - Books deemed "un-German" such as those published
by Jewish or Leftist authors are publicly burned throughout Germany - T/ S as form of
censorship but also somewhat popular
May 2nd, 1933, Trade unions are officially banned by the Nazis. Four days later they
are ‘replaced’ by the DAF – T.
July 14, 1933 Law for the "Prevention of Offspring with Hereditary Diseases"
mandates the forced sterilization of certain individuals with physical and mental
disabilities – T.
July 14th: The NSDAP is declared the only official political party in Germany; all other
parties are banned and Germany becomes a one-party dictatorship. – T.
September 17, 1933 -Central Organization of German Jews Formed German Jewish
organizations join together to form the Reichsvertretung der deutschen Juden in
response to increasing levels of persecution – R.
November 24, 1933 The law against "Dangerous Habitual Criminals" allows courts to
order indefinite imprisonment if the criminal is deemed to pose a threat to society –

Münster bishop Clemens August Graf von Galen began criticising Nazi racial policy in
a January 1934 sermon. The Catholic church frequently criticized the regime, both for
its totalitarian policies and its attack on the church. – R
June 30, 1934 Night of the long knives - Hitler orders the purge of the top leadership
of the SA, the Nazi Party paramilitary formation. Nationalist politicians and other
enemies of the regime were also targeted. – T.
1934 August 3rd: The Reichswehreid (military oath) is changed; soldiers now swear
loyalty directly to Adolf Hitler. – S
August 19, 1934, 2 weeks after the death of Von Hindenburg Hitler abolishes the post
of President becoming the Fuhrer – absolute military dictator of Germany. – T.
