"Certified" - Certification indicates that the welder or inspector has written proof of
qualification by testing
What is a critical weld? - ANS-"Critical Welds" - Welds in structure, piping, pressure
vessels and machinery, whose failure could threaten life, structural integrity, watertight
integrity, or asset interoperability
What is the difference between a critical and non-critical weld? - ANS-Critical welds,
upon failure, can cause serious harm or death to personnel as well as large scale
damage to structures or equipment. Non-critical welds will not cause severe injury or
damage if they fail
When are you allowed to deviate from specifications ? - ANS-ONLY in emergencies
