Unit 17:Training in the Business Workplace

M3
In this task, I will give an explanation why I have chosen the objectives and each section of the
training programme and the reasons behind my decisions. The training programme I will be looking
at is Health & Safety training programme at the organisational level.

Health & Safety training programme
Objectives
The main objective of the training is that at the end of the training programme the trainees should
be able to conduct risk assessment. I chose this objective as it is important for the employees to be
able to recognise and assess all the possible hazards around the building they work in and to be able
to conduct risk assessment in order to prevent any risks from happening. As the training programme
is at organisational level, the employees will have more important responsibilities and should be
able to meet understand the objectives of the training. The other objective is that at the end of the
training, the employees should be able to check the fire extinguishers. I chose this objective because
the employees in the organisational level should be able to check if the fire extinguishers are safe for
use and to ensure that there are labels and posters on how to use them safely, as they have serious
responsibilities. The last objective is that the employees should understand the Health & Safety act. I
decided to choose this objective as it is important for the employees to understand the important
laws and legalisations which are linked to health & safety, so that they can ensure that the working
environment is safe for them and for the other employees in the company. For example, if there is
something wrong with the health & safety, they will be able to recognise it and prevent it, so that
everyone can be safe when working. As the organisational level are the top people of the company,
they need to be able to solve different health & safety problems and keep the working place safe.

Trainer
The trainer for the Health & Safety training programme in the organisational department will be
external. I made this decision, because Health & Safety training is extremely important and the
employees should understand it very clearly in order to keep the working environment safe,
therefore they need a trainer who will be professional and qualifies and will provide high standard
training. The qualified trainer will be able to provide excellent training for the employees and explain
everything they need to know in detail. As the organisational level is at the top of the hierarchy, they
need more knowledge and skills and the training will be more complex, so the trainer should be
qualified in order to provide high standard training.

Location
The location of the Health & Safety training will be in the company building. I chose this location
because, firstly it will be more cost effective for the company instead of booking venue. Also, the
employees will not have to travel long journeys, which means they will save time and money on the
journey. Moreover, I decided to do the training in the building, as it will be helpful for the trainees to
understand how to do risk assessments of the building and they will be able to understand the
training for the particular place. For example, when the employees need to check the fire
extinguishers, they will be able to learn from the ones the company already has in the building, so in
future it will be easier for them to understand how to conduct the fire extinguisher checks. Overall, it
will be easier for the employees to understand the training when it is conducted in place that is
familiar for them and that they will need to use what they have learned in the training, as they are
also in the organisational level and they are working in the building of the company, they will need
to understand how to use the Health & Safety training in the building of the company.

Date & Time
I have chosen the Health & Safety training to be on 12 th March from 12pm until 3pm. I have chosen
those particular times, as all the employees from the department will be in the company at that
