Unit 12: Internet Marketing

P6
I this task, I will be looking at the challenges Nike is facing because of the globalisation, which is
when the companies are moving internationally and are increasing the communication between
them and other people or businesses worldwide.

Payment Security
As Nike is a huge company and they are operating online and they are selling products worldwide,
there are some globalisation challenges they can face. The first one can be the payment security
methods. When customers from other countries are ordering from Nike website, they may worry
about giving their bank details and can be concerned about hackers or fraud. This can be a challenge
for Nike, as if the customers are worried from purchasing online because of viruses or hackers, they
may choose not to shop online, which will decrease the sales of Nike online and the number of
purchases can decrease because of this. To overcome this problem Nike needs to ensure that their
website includes all the polices for security payment and inform the customers that their
information is protected and safe and no one can access it. The company should use authorisation at
checkout, which will help the customers to feel safe when shopping and giving their information to
the website, so by security at the payment, the clients will be able to safely shop and purchase from
Nike website. Another example, of security in the payment is using PayPal, so when the customers of
Nike are paying they can use PayPal, which will give them more security and they will not be worried
to give their bank details.

Linguistics
Another challenge that can be faced by Nike because of the globalisation is the linguistics, as when a
company is selling worldwide, there can be problems with the language and lost in the translation.
As Nike online website is operating in many countries, the problem they can face is the fact that the
translation of the language can be wrong, which can lead to misunderstanding for example with the
policies or the information about the products, so if the translation of some information is wrong
this can be a challenge for the company. Moreover, there are some words that has completely
different meaning in other languages, so if the translation is wrong, there can be confusions and
even offensive words in the website, which can be disrespectful for the country and they can stop
shopping from Nike. In order for the company to overcome this challenge, they need to find people
who can translate their website correctly and ensure that there are not mistakes or offensive words
in the website, when the interpreter carefully checks for any mistakes, Nike can be use that their
website is suitable to use in other countries. Moreover, what Nike needs to ensure that every
country can actually access the website in their own language, this means that in order for Nike to
overcome the challenge they need to include a language bar, so that the customers can chose the
language they want.

Cultural Sensitivity
The third challenge that Nike can be facing because of the process of globalisation is the cultural
sensitivity. As Nike is operating worldwide and they are clothing shop, there are several challenges
they can face, because people in different countries are wearing different types of clothing because
of beliefs and religion, so if Nike is not selling appropriate clothes, this will be offensive for the
country and their culture. If Nike fails to understand the culture of each country they operate it, they
will result lost in communication and lack of respect towards them. People will be unhappy and will
stop shopping from Nike which can lead to loss in the business that will have negative impact on the
supply chain and the company reputation and brand image as well. In order for Nike to overcome
the challenges, they need to ensure that they understand the culture and the beliefs of each country
they operate in, in order for the to be able to offer products that are suitable and appropriate for
each country. Nike should be able to adapt their products to the different cultures, religions and
tastes of the audience, they need to learn more about them and their preferences by using different
