Iman B.Zamani

a) In the form of a table, outline a minimum of 6 differences between aerobic and
anaerobic respiration of glucose

Aerobic Anaerobic

oxygen necessary oxygen not necessary

occurs in the mitochondria occurs in the cytoplasm

large AMT of ATP made small AMT of ATP made

total breakdown of glucose partial breakdown of glucose

the end products are carbon dioxide and the end products are carbon dioxide and
water lactic acid

Performed by eukaryotic cells But performed by prokaryotic yeast and
eukaryotic muscle cell

b) Carry out the experiment of aerobic respiration of yeast using a variety of substrates
based on your feet findings, state which would be the best substrates to use in order
to produce maximum products. Give a reason for your answer.

TIME DISTANCE MOVED
glucose sucrose maltose lactose

2 0,7 1,6 2,1 0,9

4 1 2,6 3,6 1,6

6 1,6 3,9 4,9 2

8 2 5,9 6,7 2,4

10 2,4 6,3 7,7 2,7

12 2,7 7,1 8,2 3,3

14 3,1 8,6 8,9 3,6

16 3,5 9,2 9,6 4

18 3,9 10,1 10,9 4,5

Conclusions:
Mi conclusions are that maltose which is the highest result that i got with 10.9 reading at 10
minutes, is the substrate that reacts farter. In conclusion, and the slowest one is the glucose
with 3,9 in 18 minutes, also yeast cells in the sealed flask underwent fermentation to
produce carbon dioxide and ethanol. In the presence of oxygen, cells undergo aerobic
cellular respiration.
