P4/M3/D2 Explain 4 procedures used to promote and maintain a healthy
and safe sporting environment

Staff training and development
This procedure promotes health and safety in sport. This is very convenient because
there is a person who always is in charge and involved to treat people with injuries
immediately if an incident had occurred. This also maintains health and safety because if
there was no responsible person to treat players this would lead to an increased
amount of players with different kinds of injuries.

A person who is qualified for medical and treatments would support players in the
present and the future; this is because they can deal with problem quickly and
professionally. The benefit of this is that it would encourage players to participate
completely as they don’t have to worry about threats being imposed to their bodies
since there are first aid specialists being present at the period of time where a match
would normally commence. To add more to this, training is delivered theoretically in
order to ensure that health and safety is well maintained throughout the workplace
constantly. The company may also pay the employee to under-go a first aid course as
this would result in more qualified staff within their local community and therefore
motivate even more players to engage as protection is assured and increased
significantly.

In addition to this, the organization providing staff training to their employees would be
beneficial in the long run as through training procedures and experiences would allow
all the individuals to have a clear understanding and knowledge about health and safety.
This would mean that all the members within the threshold would have developed in
adapting to the environment where they would feel a lot more comfortable in dealing
with issues such as; deep wounds and broken bones. Relating this to a real life example,
this may involve factors such as; schools or colleges where the organization can train
their employees by expanding their codes of practices and regular health checks. Overall
this is important as employees within the workforce have sufficient level of
understanding of the process in emergency situations.

Emergency procedure protocols
This could involve the school, college or sports club relating to a range of emergencies.
This procedure is designed to provide and safe sporting environment in case there is an
event of emergencies. This may include the following: fire evacuation, bomb alerts or
first aid protocols. This is also part of the risk assessment as they are both similar in
terms of controlling the problem with different measures being used. The reason why
this procedure is affective to maintain a safe sporting environment is because it reduces
the level of risks being involved. In order to conserve this feature, the majority of the
schools, workplaces and colleges may very well display signs and policies in order to
manage the process of health and safety.
