Acute responses to exercise for musculoskeletal
system

Range of movement
High intensity exercises cause the secretion of synovial fluid within the joint. This causes
the fluid to become less viscous (reluctant to flow) and then encourages the joint to allow
range of movement to occur as the joint has now got the ability to increase. The benefit of
this is that you are less likely to get injured.

Blood supply
The temperature and metabolic activity in the muscles increases as you exercise in order
to meet the augmented command of oxygen by the muscles, blood supply increases
through capillary dilation. This supplies the working muscles with more oxygen.

Muscle pliability
The musculoskeletal system helps produce movements by pulling on bones. There are
some changes occurring in this particular system. First of all, it increases muscle
temperature during exercises. The muscles get warmer so they become more pliable.
This decreases the danger of injury. This means that muscles have a greater ability to
stretch efficiently. Reaching out for a tackle in football would be a good example.

Muscle fibre micro tears
During exercise the muscles are stressed and are causing tiny micro tears in the muscles
which are made up of so many fibres. The developments are made when the body has
adequate fuel and rest periods to re-build micro tears; this eventually leads to making the
muscle stronger each time.

Introduction
The acute response for respiratory system is that the body demands more oxygen to the
working muscles and releases carbon dioxide. It also increases the ventilation process
that consists of tidal volume and respiratory rate. The tidal volume also raises the amount
of air someone inhales with every single breath when a person is doing high intensity
exercise.
