Introduction:
In this assignment I will be evaluating how successful a selected business organisation
has been in preparing for the growing use of e-business. The Organisation I have chosen
for this task is Asda.
Product:
Asda has been successful in preparing for the growth of e-business because they have
responded to the competitive pressure by selling as well not only groceries but also
clothing and furniture. They have created affordable school wear for children so that
parents do not have to spend double the money in other school wear shops. In addition
they sell furniture’s which means that not only are they competing in the food market
but also with the clothing and furniture market. As a result of this loyal customers of
Asda have taken interest in their new products as they believe Asda are trustworthy.
They have a range of products to sell to their customers.
This has profited Asda really well as they are incoming money from these 3 different
fields. This proves that Asda has been successful in selling their products. Asda ensures
there customers that there products are in commendable quality. They select the
freshest fruits and vegetables and take extra care that there furniture and clothing is
made from high quality material.
Promotion:
Asda has taken competitive pressure really well with promotion by giving there
customers value for their money. Asda are always promoting their products with special
offers and deals in store and online. They provide great customer service and promote
the idea that if customers spend £25 or more they can get free home delivery. In
addition offers such as ‘spend £30 or more and use this coupon to save £5’ are sent
through there mail boxes on line and at home. Everyday there is always an offer going
on so customers will stay interested in Asda as they will be curious what else they have
to offer. This has benefitted Asda really well as it made them successful, because it
shows that the public are shopping with Asda whether it’s online or in store. There
profit has risen as well as the amount of customers they now have.
Place/ physical evidence:
The competitive pressure Asda has faced for this is being able to grab the attention of
the public by there online site. As many companies now have online websites the
competition is becoming fiercer. This means that Asda need to stand out from the rest.
Asda was successful in doing this as they have made there website easy to use.
