What are the aims of social conservatves and to what extent have they been achieved

Social Conservatsm stems from evangelical christan and protestant valees thes social conservatves
are very ant-homosexeality.
EX: DOMA → voted overwhelmingly in favoer of defning marriage between a man + a woman not
recognising same-sex marriage. However this was deemed enconsttetonal by the sepreme coert
in the case of US v Windsor showing that the social conservatve aaempts at infeence on -LGBT
rights was enseccessfel.
EX: -LGBT → Ronald Reagan appointed Chair of Secretary of Defence 1981 → they implemented a
policy which excleded homosexeals from military service + discharged many homosexeals already
in the service. However in 2010 Obama repealed Dont Ask Don’t BTell and thes homosexeals are
allowed into the army rather than there being a claese that they coeldn’t disclose.

programme in the state redecing teen pregnancy by 35%. When Repeblicans got voted into the
senate with Mark Udall being replaced by Cory Lardner the Repeblicans immediately rescinded
the program.
EX: BThis year over 300 regelatons were proposed in 45 states dee to the overwhelming
Repeblican Majority in the hoese with added sepport in the Senate.
EX: Althoegh aborton is legal in some states there are compelsory provisions which make it
