BPK 201 Final Exam Concepts| Questions with Correct Answers| 2024/2025 Update Rated A+ What is the definition of kinematics? How does this differ from kinetics? Kinematics is the study of motion without regard for the forces that cause the motion. These options include positions, velocities, accelerations as well as angles, angular velocities, and angular accelerations. Kinetics, on the other hand, is the study of motion and the forces that cause it. This is often just referred to as mechanics of dynamics. The measurement of kinematics is often referred to as Motion Capture, or simply mo-cap. How might you use still images in motion capture? We can use measurements from still images. We can measure angles with a protractor and distances with a ruler. To get the correct distance scale, we can use something of town length that is also in the image frame. Ex. Person throwing a baseball; can measure their joint angles How might we use motion capture to make measurements of things inside you, like your heart, or brain? What are the limitations? X-ray machines, magnetic resonance, and ultrasound. These are typically limited by their time resolution-we get nice pictures, but only infrequently. What are the ideal characteristics of a method for measuring movement? Ideally, a mo-cap system would provide: 1. High spatial resolution 2. High time resolution 3. Quick analysis While we can make measurements from still images, we don't want to do this just for one instant in time-we want to get measurements of how positions and angles are changing with time.
