Thermodynamics - Power cycles, steam cycles, refrigeration and heat pumps
This document includes content covering the various ideal and actual power cycles such as steam cycles, carnot cycle, rankine cycle, brayton cycle, joule cycle, as well as combined cycles that allow for regeneration, cogeneration, and reheating. The notes cover the general and detailed types of engine cycles such as a two stroke and four stroke engine cycles along with the processes occurring. Most cycles include methods to calculate the thermal efficiency, turbine efficiency, work output, heat input, as well as other factors and ratios. Additionally, refrigeration and heat pump cycles are briefly covered with methods to calculate the COP of a cycle.
