Unit 8

How the processes after disembarkation from the aircraft at the gate at Birmingham
Airport comply with legal and regulatory requirements
The process of disembarking an aircraft means leaving the aircraft at the arrival of the
destination airport. The process of disembarking the aircraft at Heathrow Airport is done
using an air bridge. An air-bridge is a movable bridge which allows passengers to disembark
from an aircraft. When the engines are stopped, anti-collision lights are turned on, and
chocks are place in front of the aircraft so it would be safe to go onto the air bridge.
When passengers arrive at Heathrow Airport they are instructed to go through immigration
and checks this is by staff at the airport guiding passengers and there are signs in the airport
which passengers can follow.
Large screen displays are used to keep passengers aware of flight delays and gate switches
so that they are able to quickly understand where to go or what is happening regarding their
flight. Large digital signs that display maps are used to help passengers understand where to
go while they are visiting the airport. It would show important places in the airport such as
departure gates and retail shops. This meets legal and regulatory requirements because
passengers are given information in the airport.
Signage is an important part of passenger arrival because it means that passenger are given
information on where to go in the airport. This complies with legal and regulatory
requirements because a (PNR) passenger name record data can be used for passengers who
wish to know such as ticket details this links to passenger information. A passenger who has
never visited the airport will be confused about where to go and it means that they will take
time understanding where they should go. Signage should be written in different languages
this makes it easier for individuals who are coming in from different countries. This is
because they would see the signs written in their language this makes it easier for
passengers to check in after they have disembarked from the aircraft.
Customer service desks meet legal requirements this is because they have a member of staff
who would provide services or information that links to passengers. Passengers can always
visit the customer service desk to find out more about bookings, flights or directions in the
airport. Customer service desks are easy way to get information about anything. According
to the CAA airports must provide information to passengers.
