About:
● Set in Jackbean Scottland
● Written in 1606

● It is a tragedy
Characters:
● Macbeth. He the the protagonist and tragic hero who display lots of hubris
and humartia throughout the play. His character is arrogant, ambitious and
megalomaniac. His desperation for power leads to his eventual downfall; not
before the guilt drives him insane.
● Lady macbeth. She is macbeth’s wife. She has a twisted nature to
accompany her ruthless, powerful, ambitious, manipulative and emesculating
personality. She is a subversion of the typical stereotypes for a women during
this ear and play a massive role and is sometimes seen to be the reason as to
why the Macbeths have such a tragic downfall.
