There are many different types of communication in the workplace that
communicate information.
Social Media – Social media is one of the main way to communicate training and skill
improvement opportunity’s as it is easy to reach all employs at once. Social media
should only be used for these types of communication not for personal matters.
Email – Email is not the most common way to communicate in the workplace but
sometimes it can be the easiest way, with emails you can send important information
to a person straight away knowing that they will receive it right away.
Verbal Conversation – This is the most commonly used form of communication, but
sometimes it is not the most reliable. Verbal communication is normally used to
inform people of changes or to tell an employer about taking time off work.
Written (Physical Document) – A written form of communication is normally a
doctor’s note; this can also be a written appointment card that you can give to your
employer. Written information can also mean having information written in the
laboratory notebook about an experiment that is currently taking place.
Meetings – Meeting are a good way to tell a large group of people something.
Meetings are normally only called for important things or they can be called for the
higher management to help train younger employees.
Phone calls – Phone calls are only used for communication when you are calling in
sick to work. Important information should not be told over the phone.
Signs – In a workplace you will see signs all around that show different information.
This is a good way to communicate a lot of different types of communication at once.
Noticeboards – Many different things can be placed on a noticeboard and it is a good
way to relay a lot of information at once to all member of staff. A few examples would
be training opportunity’s.
Radio – Using the Radio is a good way of communicating about your business and
inviting possible employees to an open day.
Videocall (Conference) – This is a good way to communicate with employees even if
you are not present. This is a good way to communicate with different employees.
Notes – Notes are used all the time in the workplace to write down important notes
for other employees to read so that everyone knows what is happening and what
needs to be done.
Posters – Posters are eye catching and are normally placed in a prominent position
that is accessible to everyone. Posters can inform about responsibility’s, procedures,
health & safety, latest new and developments. An example would be ‘health &safety
at work act 1974’
Reports – This form of communication is normally only between staff and
management. A report is done on a time scale to see how you are progressing ad what
