Linear Sequence
Decreasing Linear Sequence

Q - 5th term 63, decreases by 7 each time

_ , _ , _ , _ , 63 , _

 Move -7 each time further:
o 63 - 7 = 56
 The previous term before 63 would be +7:
o 63+ 7 = 70
 Some greater number = C
 Nth term = C - 7n
 If I want to verify the sequence; let’s say the 5th term =
 C - (7*5) = 63
 C - 35 = 63
 C = 63 + 35
 C = 98

Thus, answer for this Q is ‘98-7n’.

 To find the linear sequence, follow these steps:

1. Find the difference between the numbers.
2. The number found after the difference should be put in front of ‘n’. E.g.: 5n
3. Finally, to find the last part of the sequence, subtract the value found after the
differences (done above) from the 1st number in the sequence.
4. So, the n term is written!

 When solving linear equations, we are trying to find the value of the unknown.
Whatever we do to one side of the equation, we must do to the other.
