Describe the impact of international factors on a selected business &
Assess the impact of changes in the global and European business
environment on a selected business
1. The actions of OPEC

OPEC stands for Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, its mission is “to
coordinate and unify the petroleum policies of its member countries and+ ensure
that stabilization of oil markets, in order to secure an efficient economic and regular
supply of petroleum to consumers.

OPEC is a very important organization that will has a major impact on oil prices in all
economies; it can also have an effect on UK economy as well.

However currently, “The UK’s average petrol price rose to 120.11p a litre this week,
up 0.63p from mid-January, according to the AA. Diesel is now 122.32p a litre, 0.34p
more expensive than this time last month” according to the guardian please look at
the link below. Which means that the prices of “Crude oil prices have risen 20%”, this
means that the people will have to pay more to buy the oil and also will have to pay
for the petrol for their car which will be more and this will mean that they will have
to pay more than before which means that they will have less money to spend on
the businesses like JD, which will mean that even if the income is high of the
consumers this will mean that they will have to pay more for driving, so the less
money they will have the spend on the business like JD sports and this will mean that
they will not spend money on JD sports causing their sales to fall and this will mean
that the production will also decrease.

OPEC will have an effect on business and this means that this will also have an effect
on the JD sports for example if the prices rise of the petrol and this will mean that
the vehicles run by JD sports will also have an effect as they will have to pay more to
transport goods from one place to another.

The sales will fall for the business and the transport of the vehicles will increase
which will mean that the expenses will be high then the income which will mean the
business will loss and this can lead to a closure of the business or shutting the
business and they will make a loss. Business likes to make profit not loss.

2. Environmental concerns and actions
There are many environment concerns and may lead to issues for the business like
JD and where they are located.
