Procedure
The sample was children and their families in North America
1364 families were chosen from hospitals when the children were born
The first assessment
of the children and their families was when they were 1 month
old and the assessment included observations questionnaires and child assessment
Each assessment was done over 2 days
by observation 4 observation were done
Over the 2 days and lasted 44minutes
Atthe end of theinfant toddlerperiod the children were tested to assess their
cognitive development and the end of the preschool period they were assessed
language memory and intelligence At varying intervals measures were taken of
factors line ethnicity gender birthorder
The children were classified into 4 groups in terms ofhow good their
children was at both stages like this
