Why is interviewing a good process to go through in order to see if a candidate is suited to the
job?
Interviewing a candidate is very beneficial to the employer who is trying to fill a position as they
would be able to get more information on the potential candidate and could assess their character
more and if they would be suited for the role. They would able to understand their personality more
and if it was suited for the role which was available. They could also discuss the depth more of their
qualifications and experience to see if it would be suitable for the position. If the candidate gave a
negative impression in the interview and did not seem like they would be fit for the job then it would
mean they would not be hired and would prevent the business getting an employee which was not
suited for the role. However if a potential candidate has the right qualifications and skills on paper
then they would be invited for an interview to further develop their skills and show the interviewer
that they were fitted for the job and did not lie on their application form. Carrying out a face to face
interview can be very beneficial in the recruiting process as it enables the business to see if the
employee is suited for the role and to make sure that they would not look bad for the business.
Why is it good customer service important not only in john Lewis but in any business?
Customer service would need to be good in a business, this is vital as if they did not have good
customer service then it would mean consumers would be less likely to buy their products or
services which could lead to less sales and profits and they could develop a bad reputation which
would make them unsuccessful with running their business. A business would need to ensure that
their customer service was at high standard from all their staff meaning they would need to be
presentable, friendly and would need to be able to answer any questions that the customers had to
prevent the business from losing out on sales.
Why is a skills audit important to identify what skills existing and potential staff have? Identify
what type of training is needed for staff to improve and gain skills.
A skill audit is where a business would assess the skills in the business and look at what they would
require. When a job becomes available in a business they would need to look at their employees to
consider who would be applicable for a promotion. By recruiting internally from within the business
it would make their employees feel more valued and of higher importance which would increase
their motivation and the work which was being completed. They would need to ensure that they had
the right skills to be able to do the job so the business could run efficiently and would not suffer.
