• Increased, uncontrolled bone turnover due to excess osteoclastic
resorption followed by osteoblastic activity
• Usually affects men over 50 with a family history of Paget’s disease
• Usually involves the
• Skull
• Spine/pelvis
• Long bones of the legs
, Paget’s Disease of the Bone:
Presentation
• 95% are asymptomatic
• Older male with bone pain and an isolated raised ALP
• Pathological fractures
• Bony deformities e.g. tibial bowing, skull bossing
