Unit 45
P5

Each transport system will have a negative effect on the environment as they all
release emissions into the air due to the bad fuels that they use to run. If they
looked into the fuels that they were using and changed them then it could reduce
the harmful effects which it has on the environment. A high amount of the
population in the UK choose to drive and therefore will drive themselves to work
and to other places each day as it can be seen as a more useful method of
transport as it is convenient for the person to go where they would like to go.
However if they did like to travel alone and when they wanted then they could
also consider cycling to places or walking where they could also be in time and
could control the way that they will go.

When a car’s engine is running there are a range of gases which will be emitted
that have harmful effects on the environment. The gases released are carbon
dioxide, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and others. Cars emit these greenhouses
gasses which all contribute to global warming. There is also particles and
pollutants which can be deposited from a car into the soil, these will enter the
food chain and can effect reproductive and respiratory system of the animals
which live there. Nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide are also huge contributors to
acid rain which is very harmful for the environment.

A lot of jobs consist the employee to travel quite a distance due to, meetings and
conferences that they would need to be at. This could be harmful to the
environment and could cost the individual a lot of money to afford to fuel their
car. However businesses would not suggest that their employees use public
transport as they would have to fund it which could take out of the businesses
profits. Businesses could consider their transport use and could try to make more
conferences and meetings carried out online, this would reduce workers travel
costs and would save a lot of time which it would take to travel. It would also be
positive for the environment as they would be reducing the amount of emissions
which are being released.
