Physical and Technological Resources at Colchester Institute
Introduction
This report will show how the college is run and how they manage their physical and
financial resources.
Physical Resources
Physical Resources are the resources that an organisation needs to carry out its normal
everyday activities. These can include resources such as buildings, facilities, plant and
machinery.
Buildings & Facilities
Marketing
They would manage the budgets, brand ideas, and monitor competition. The marketing
department tries to recruit more students through being the local press and making their
prospectus effective.
Human Resources
The HR department would organise inductions, training and recruitment. Doing this
means that they can control what the teachers are doing and raise college standards.
Raising the standards of the college and ensuring that the teachers are doing well means
they are more likely to get an improved grade from Ofsted.
Classrooms
This is obviously where all the teaching goes on and allows students to participate. These
rooms have enough resources in them for students to learn in. Classroom types vary
from course to course; for example, in a Business class they would use rooms that have
computers in, a Hairdressing class would use a salon as their room and a Carpentry class
would use a workshop as their classroom. The college gets funding from the Government
to actually have these classrooms.
