Introduction
This report focuses on implementation of the recommendations provided in the NIKE
part 1 report which states to reduce the concentration of factories located in China and
so diversify them to other countries. Also, to have a source plant indulge in robotics
in home country i.e. US, keeping in view the overall cost for the company. In nutshell,
it aims to interpret the global procurement decision of the company and to critically
evaluate how the given recommendations may be applied to the global supply chain
model of NIKE. Lastly it points out the gap found while implementing the proposed
strategy.
Changes in Global Procurement
This section will try to critically evaluate the selection and management of
international suppliers as NIKE supply chain is totally dependent on the international
suppliers. While setting up of source plant in US, NIKE will require to have local/near
shore suppliers which may be time effective. Thus, can help in improving overall
efficiency in supply chain.
