ꕥ boat stealing

Presents internal conflict - how he describes boat:
beginning:

‘shepherds boat’,

‘skiff’

small, wooden rowboat

not very impressive but still functional and useful

middle

’Elfin pinnace’

large, beautiful ship with sails and many oars

the way he sees the boat is reflective of his mood: here is is overjoyed
so imagines a grand and ornate boat

end:

‘Bark’

even worse than a simple rowboat

not even functional as a transport vessel anymore

change in how he imagines the boat shows how his enjoyment turning to guilt
changes his view of life and the things around him.

his guilt renders the boat useless - it is so powerful it causes a functional object
to lose its function

Presents internal conflict - how he speaks of himself
beginning:

‘just like a man who walks with stately step’
