This document works as a key introduction to developmental psychology- exploring various different psychological approaches and influential theories to give you an idea on how psychology has developed over time. This document is a short one containing information on theories of development, Freud's psychosexual stages theory and why Freud's work has been labelled controversial. For further information on this topic, I recommend researching Piaget's theories and Erikson's proposal of Developemental Stages

When talking about behaviourism, often, you will hear about Skinner and
Pavlov’s observations- such as, Pavlov’s classical conditioning and salivating
dogs.

 Pavlov paired a neutral stimulus (bell) with feeding time (unconditional
stimulus). This created classical conditioning so individuals could create
theories using this new knowledge of associations between pairs of stimuli.
