Muscle Pectoralis major Pectoralis minor Subclavius
- Clavicular head  originates 1st costal cartilage near the
from medial half of clavicle. rib.
Origin - Sternocostal head  originates 3,4,5 ribs. (the costochondral junction)
from lateral surface of sternum
& upper six costal cartilages.

Insertion Lateral lip of bicipital groove. Coracoid process. Subclavius groove.
(at inferior surface of the clavicle).

Two heads: Adduction & medial rotation. -In case of movement of insertion: Steadiness of clavicle during
this muscle helps in respiration. Protraction (draws scapula downwards movement of the shoulder joint.
Action Clavicular head:
flexion & adduction of arm.
&forwards). (‫)ﻟﻣﺎ ﺑﻣد ﻛﺗﻔﻲ ﻟﻘدام‬.
-In case of movement of origin:
Sternocostal head: Elevation of ribs (in forced respiration).
adduction & medial rotation of arm.

Nerve From brachial plexus  2 nerves :
-Medial pectoral nerve.
From brachial plexus:
-Medial pectoral nerve.
From brachial plexus:
nerve to subclavius.
supply -Lateral pectoral nerve.
