How does he describe Ellen? Ellen is his sister but he doens't like her much. She's smart, nasty, annoying and obnoxious. Who's Spitsy? The neighbour's dog. He's afraid of mailmen and has a crush on Francis's cat. (=in love) What can happen if he fails his social studies test? He can end up in summer school. Why does he need to have a plan? Because he thinks he's going to have a test and tries to get out of it. What's the plan? He thinks of many options: A: an illness, but it won't work because Mrs Godfrey has a thermometer in her desk. B: an injury, but it won't work because she will make him do it with his left hand. C: a tragic accident, but it won't work because he used it 2 weeks ago. D: The truth: he didn't know about the test. It won't work because she hates him. The best option is to SKIP SCHOOL! What's P.S. 38? Public School 38 What's THE MACHINE? It's not a real machine but it watches you and knows your every move. It can track you down and beat you. You can't skip school easily because of the machine: 1. The seating chart: teachers always tell you where to sit. They'll notice if you're not at your desk. 2.The attendance sheet: they know if you're absent. 3. The classroom helper: Gina is a suck-up, she volunteers to get extra credit. She will take the attendance sheet to the front office. 4. The school secretary: the front office is where the engine of the machine starts. They make the secretary keep track of the attendance What are the pink slips for? DETENTION How does Nate describe Teddy? He's awesome, definitely #1A. At first he was quiet and serious but later they became friends. What happened with the squid? Teddy picked up the squid in the science lab. He pretended it was a giant booger. He was laughing so hard that he dropped it on the floor. Then Mary Ellen Popowski stepped on it and we laughed even harder. That was when Mr Galvin started screaming. He thinks Mr Nichols is cushiony as a giant air bag. What happened with his lunch? He forgot it at home. So Teddy offered his leftovers. Nate accepted a fortune cookie. What did the FORTUNE COOKIE say? "Today you will surpass all others" He thinks he's fortune is great! What does Gina do in Mrs Godfrey's class? She tells Mrs Godfrey he's eating in class. Why does Mrs Godfrey give Nate a pink slip? He gets a detention report because Mrs Godfrey sees the paper with all the nicknames he has. The report says: INSOLENCE Who are Jenny and Artur? Nate is in love with Jenny but she has a boyfriend, Artur. He's jealous of Artur.
