Unit 9 – Project Management Assignment A
Introduction
I have recently been recruited by a new software development company as a trainee project
manager. The company is just setting up the procedures it will use before it starts taking on
any development projects.
This unit's goal is to analyse project management's principles in the context of information
technology. Additionally, by knowing the five primary stages of a project and studying and
putting into practise at least three different project methodologies, I will produce a
successful IT project. And then in conclusion, I will advance my IT project by investigating a
case study and then applying my creativity to come up with a solution.
What are IT Projects?
IT projects is the process you use to organise, plan, and assign responsibilities for carrying
out the particular IT goals of a company. IT project managers implement IT services in
addition to supervising hardware setups, network upgrades, cloud computing, business
analytics, and data management ideas. A number of things can cause an IT project to fail,
including common issues, technical developments made during project execution,
modifications to the network infrastructure that affect security and data management,
budget changes and unidentified dependencies between hardware, software, and the
network infrastructure.
Project Beginning and Ending
A project is a short-term task that has distinct starts and ends, many phases, and distinctive
outcomes. The primary difference between projects and operations is that projects are only
temporary and closed after the goals have been met. Operations, on the other hand, are
ongoing on a long-term basis. Projects are important because they allow businesses to
accomplish a particular objective, which then ensures that what the business needs to offer
will be achieved.
Project Scope
A project scope is an outline of all types of projects, which includes the associated tasks,
materials, deadlines, products, and restrictions, including the project's budget, as well as
their available resources. A project scope also describes the main players, procedures,
presumptions, and limits, as well as the purpose of the project, what is included, and what is
not included.
The 5 Main Stages of a Project Lifecycle
All projects fall into one of these five categories, which all make up the project management
life cycle. However, the project life cycle is made up of the various phases that each project
experiences.
