• Most of these businesses marked with red dots are well—established
organisations with long term market presence and long experience of
retailing. Competing against them, I believe to be a pretty hard task, unless
your business proposal has a unique selling point, like the one of my client.

Costa Coffee

• Location: 88 South Street; Waterstones, Durlem Shopping Centre.
• Brief Overview: Costa was born in 1971, when Sergio and Bruno Costa opened their
wholesale business in London. Today Costa is the second largest coffeehouse chain in
the world behind Starbucks and the largest in the United Kingdom. Since 1995, the
business has grown to over 2900 stores across 30 countries. Costa Coffee has its own
roastery. The blend served in retail stores is their own "Mocha Italia"; it contains a
blend of arabica (60%) and robusta (40%). 2009 UK coffee poll, shows that 7 out of 10
coffee lovers prefer Costa. By the end of 2010, the company had overtaken Starbucks
in the UK, taking 37.6% of the market share based on turnover.

the carefully chosen snack foods and authentic coffee drinks of different sorts and
preferences. Costa Coffee employs only the most passionate and well trained baristas
around.
