Introduction
In this assignment, I shall be providing a researched overview. I will describe the
contact of employment including the rights of the employees and employers. I
will be outlining the different ways that employees can be involved in
communication with their employers including employee suggestion schemes
and work groups.
Contract Entitlements are outlined in the contract so the employer and the
employee know what is expected of each other. These entitlements include:
• Amount of pay and when it is paid
• Holiday pay
• Sick pay
• Hours of work
• The type of employment e.g. temporary
or fixed
• Notice period
• Disciplinary rules
• Pension benefits.
Tesco outline these things when they recruit
employees so employees know what is expected of
each other for example how many hours they will be
working a week, what days they will be working etc. Also Tesco allow their
employees to have sick pay and it is based on the length of the
employee’s service. This gains cooperation of the employee as it
motivates the employee because they can have time off work and still get
paid.
Employee and Employer Rights
Tesco expect employees to meet the terms of their contracts, co-operate in
meeting the objectives of the business and follow health and safety regulations.
Employees expect Tesco to pay them according to their contract, provide them
with a safe working environment, train them appropriately, permit them to join
trade unions/ staff associations and allow access to any confidential computer
records kept on them as employees
