You are required to create a leaflet which focuses on two different types of interview with two
different individuals/groups. Within the leaflet it is important to clearly separate both types of
interview covering a range of factors to deliberate when communicating with different
people/organisations.
Requirements:
Choose two types of interview from the following:
o Television
o Radio
o Print media – Newspaper and internet sites
o Sponsors
Choose who will be interviewing you for each, from the following:
o TV/Radio Host
o Journalist
o Sponsors, agent
Describe the following factors to consider in each interview:
o Communicating accurately
o Personal delivery
o Appearance and timing
o Requirements for each type of interview
Television- TV Host
It is important that athletes communicate effectively and clearly. This is especially important in
developing relationships with the many people an athlete will meet on a day to day basis. Athletes
need to come across as likeable which involves communicating effectively and actively listening.
There are 3 types of communication and all of them are important when doing an interview on the
television: verbal communication, non-verbal communication and formal and informal
communication. However, the most important out of the 3 is non-verbal communication. This is
because if what they are saying doesn’t match how they are acting, then no one will believe what
they are saying, and it could make them out to be a bad person. Therefore, they could fall out with
their teammates and coaches and the fans may not want them on the team anymore. This links to
personal delivery.
The way you communicate effects the response you receive and depends on the quality of
