HIST 410N Week 3 Assignment: Case Study – Mobilizing the Masses (Option 1: Chronicle Adolf Hitler s Rise)
WEEK THREE CASE STUDY Between 1918 and 1932 Adolf Hitler steadily gained followers with his public speaking skills and his commanding authority (Brower, 2014). What set the stage for Hitler's party was the Depression. The unemployment numbers sky rocketed, and resentment grew. By 1932, close to a million Germans had been won over and joined the Nazis party. In the 1933 election, the Nazis party acquired 33% of the vote. In that same year the president elected Hitler as chancellor. This was the start to Hitler’s dictatorship. An example of how he was able to persuade the public to agree with his views was due to his speeches. The Proclamation to the German Nation is an example of Hitler’s great speeches.
