Introduction:

Work is any function done by an individual or a group in order to attain a

particular goal. From a purely sociological point of view, work can be defined

as the function or activity that is undertaken by an individual or a group in

order to achieve a goal and derive benefits from the same (Grifiths et al.,

2019). Productivity that is rewarded helps meet the different needs and

requirements of the human population. It should also be mentioned here

that, monetary exchange is not a necessity in order to do any work. A variety

of different factors play a very important role in determining how well a work

or duty is completed by an individual. The factors that influence this aspect

of the human life are knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, awareness,

values, motives and needs (Zhang et al., 2020). Thus, depending on the

different skills, values and beliefs of an individual, he or she may be able to

work in a different way and complete a particular task more easily.

This paper aims to study work as a concept of sociology as well as the

concepts of urbanization and industrialization and how the human life and

work is being affected because of the same. The author of this paper also

uses the Marx theory to elaborate on this topic and discusses globalization as

a cause of change. How the human society is closely associated with work

and how the lack of the same can be detrimental to the physical, mental and

sociological wellbeing of a person has been thoroughly discussed by the

author of the paper.
