CONTROLLED PRACTISE ACTIVITIES
The first conditional is used to talk about possible things that might happen in the
future.
First conditional sentences consist of two clauses, an ‘if + present simple’ clause and a
‘will + infinite’ clause. Structure: if + present simple . . . will + infinite.
If the ‘if’ clause comes first, a comma is used.
If the ‘if’ clause comes second, no comma is needed.
Activity 1 – Complete the sentence
Choose the correct form of each verb in brackets to make first conditional
sentences.

2. Anna . . . . (go) shopping if she . . . . (have) time.
3. If Simon . . . . (pass) his exams, his father . . . . (buy) him a bike.
