- In 55 BC julius cesar leads the first roman invasion to Britain which is unsuccessful
- In AD 43 Emperor Caludius leads a successful invasion during which Boudicca, a
native british tribal leader, tried to resist
- Emperor Hadrian built a wall (Hadrian Wall) to keep out the Picts who are ancestors of
the Scottish people. The wall had 2 forts named Housesteds and Vindolanda
- The Romans built roads, public buildings, created law and introduced plants and animals
- Romans left in AD 410 after 400 years
