A society in a country can be defined as social organisation which is categorising
different people in different groups also known as classes. Examples of classes
are family, systems of education and health and social care settings.
Sociology can be sympathised as an impression that all behaviours from people
is absorbed to socialisation. Through socialisation people are able to learn
different languages that certain society possess also different background
cultures and beliefs. Socialisation normally takes at the initial stage of life.
There are two types of socialisation within society known as primary and
secondary socialisation. Primary socialisation begins with the family: all the
different types of families can be defined as primary socialisation for instance the
birth family, adopted or foster families. Secondary socialisation instead, is based
on social development of human lives such as from nursery to the availability of
social webs and jobs.
Socialisation normally influences people with vulnerable people and the elderly
when it comes to health and social care settings due to not associating with the
behaviour that is learned within society. Today we are in a generation where
there are different behaviours targeted as trends that have to be copied in order
for individuals have to be accepted. If this behaviour is not performed by a
certain group of people they will be affected due to people’s judgements for
instance being classified as ‘different’ or ‘strange’.
Social roles are behaviours that are well evidenced within society and most of
the time it can be expected as an obligation within the community. The roles can
be identified as the position of a student, a father, a mother etc. For example a
role of a mother is to protect their child, being emotionally involved with their
children issues by supporting their day to day situations for instance stress,
taking the child to school and back home.
Social diversity is defined as differences in groups of people within society for
instance there are groups of gender, age, groups regarding location and religion
etc. The impact that social diversity can have in different groups will be
classified with less dignity for instance people coming from abroad will have a
less chance on having a good life than people that were raised in the UK.
Gender: gender is based on the expectation that both men and women have
within the cultural and social classification. Depending on the community, there
are different expectations that men and women have to follow that will be
different from each other. For instance until 1930 women weren’t allowed to vote
and in Germany before the dictation of Adolf Hitler women were allowed to go to
schools that would teach them about housing care for instance how to be a good
housewife whereas men were obligated to go army.
Another example will be how in certain jobs today men and women are not
payed equally even thou they work in the same job with the same level of
qualification(s) required. This can be defined as year gap which means men are
payed much more higher than women.
Race and ethnicity groups highlights how race plays a big role in discrimination
of classes. For instance in America there were differences between the White
community and the Black society when it came to chances. Today there is the
law called Civil Right Act where it states that treating people with lack of dignity

, shouldn’t be tolerated no longer. However this didn’t change much within society
as certain acts where still seen throughout the years in America for instance life
expectancy for the women of colour (76) were less than a White woman (80).
Age: for the elderly people the status will gradually go down as they will initially
retire. This will allow them to feel less important in the community as they feel
they don’t have anything to do within society. As they get older they will start to
feel lonely as they will lose their beloved and everyone around them will be busy
building their families or start working. Poverty can be an issue for the elderly
people since they have retired. It will be difficult to keep up with the bills. This
will make people around them feel both empathetic and sympathetic as there
are similar people to them in the community.
When it comes to the region groups, within the UK, the region as its whole has
lower areas as well as the higher areas. People that live in the lower areas will
find it difficult to cope with their health due to not enough jobs as well as jobs
that have lower payment. This however will different in different areas around
the UK for example in Buckinghamshire the life expectancy of a male is (84)
compared to a male living in Leicester (80).
Religion and belief system: within the UK there are different religion and respect
to Italy, the UK has a vast majority of religion. This is why it is important for
professional within the health and social care setting to be informed about other
religion and respect people’s beliefs. For instance Muslim women within their
religion will not allow them to be touched by men so they would prefer a woman
professional when it comes for a check -up or treatment.
Sexual orientation: there are different ways people are satisfied when it comes to
their sexual orientation. The LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
Transgender/Transsexual) have been considered to be protected under the
Equality Act which is a replacement of the act of discrimination laws which allows
people to understand the rights in a more simplistic way. However it still plays a
big role on defeating discrimination in general. This act protects you from
victimisation and harassment and all the people in Britain. The discrimination
illegal is when people are treated with lack of dignity and respect from others
causing them to feel less favoured within society. This is very important that the
Equality Act has incorporated this group because this wasn’t always the case as
they are now protected by the Equality Act- people were discriminated because
of the relationships that they are on.
In the disability group there is a barrier when it comes to lower areas within the
UK as there might not be enough equipment needed for their impairment. For
instance a person that has a leg disability, there won’t be enough wheelchair
within the society and this will cause the service user to feel less important than
people with no disability. Same can happen for a person with hearing
impairment: if there aren’t enough equipment needed for this impairment, the
service user will then have to rely on reading people’s lips. Again, the Equality
Act protects people with an impairment so they can’t be discriminated by the
community.
Family networks-there are different types of families of which all of them play a
big role in a child’s life. There are able to provide support, care and responsibility
in a child’s life.
