,UNIT 05 – Data Modelling (Assignment 2) – Kamrul Ahmed
Introduction - (P3)
In this report I will be designing and developing a data model for a small business
franchise and have been appointed to take on this task as a trainee data analyst. The
company imports range of cheese from across Europe and require a data model to keep
track of their KPI (Key Performance Indicator), financial records and margin of return in
profit for their organisation. The organisation supply’s chains of restaurants across UK
with premium cheese and the use of a data model will help their business stay on top of
their finance while also retaining a high profit margin.
The report will include the different stages that will be involved in the process of creating
the data model, this will also include in-depth overview of each stages from the
preliminary stage to gathering and collecting the required data to begin creating the
model.
Further analysis will include obtaining feedback from peers to get their view of the data
model, this will allow me to make further improvements on the data model to ensure the
integrity remains consistent, while also being easy to read and understand by others. This
will include presenting data in visual format such as bar chart, pie chart and other visual
representations which will outline the data.
The final process will include a test evaluation of the model to test its integrity and the
test that will be conducted will examine whether the model is presenting correct data in
the model and the testing the formula to evaluate if the numbers that are being presented
is correct and calculations are functioning properly.
The evaluation will include will conclude by summarising the report which will outline
the benefits and the disadvantage of the report and evaluating the optimisation that have
been applied to the data model to improve efficiency and effectiveness, this will
accompany the feedback that will be collected from peers.

USER REQUIREMENT - (FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION) – (P3)
Company Name: Romson Cheese Direct
Business Overview: Romson is a UK supplier who specialises in supplying different
ranges and types of cheese across the nation to restaurants. The company imports the
different cheese from France and Netherlands which produce the cheese from scratch.
Data Model Requirement (Nature of Problem): The business is looking to integrate
digital solutions and method to help run their business. data model will allow Romson
Cheese Direct to effectively evaluate the pattern in the sales figure, while also giving them
an insight into their business performance.
Romson cheese direct are facing a challenge of keeping track of their sales data and a brief
conversation has allowed me to understand their requirements in which they have stated
due to constant changes in the currency exchange rate, they are finding it difficult to keep
track of their sales data and would like to have a data model in place which would reflect
the sales margin based on the currency exchange rate.
The client has requested me to create a data model which would be presented in a
spreadsheet format, the client has provided us with their average monthly sales data for
each cheese type and this includes the number of units they have sold.
Solution: The solution to help Romson Cheese Direct to tackle this problem would be to
implement a data model concept which help them keep track of the sales figure. The data
model would essentially allow them to evaluate which of their product is selling best and
while the also giving them a brief overview of the margin profit generated by each type of
cheese product.
The data model will also provide a visual representation of their data using bar charts and
other visual elements which will essentially paint a picture of Romson Cheese Directs sales
performance which will accompany the data.
Additional features would include the ability to see which product is selling best and the
average cost of each products.
The client has provided me with the brief overview of the sales data which includes the
number of cheeses sold for each type. They have informed us they have used the latest
currency exchange rate from Euro to GBP which at time was (0.7). I will be using the latest
exchange rate to ensure the data model provides precise and accurate data.
