Walden University NURS 6051 discussion 6
Post an analysis of the ramifications of an organization not involving nurses in each stage of the systems development life cycle when purchasing and implementing a new HIT system. Give specific examples of potential issues at each stage and how the inclusion of nurses could help avoid such issues. Systems Development Life Cycle The systems development life cycle (SDLC) is a way for an organization to develop effective information systems into the business plan. It is a continuous life cycle. When a business’s needs change or there are advances in technology, a new project will be created and the old system will be destroyed, moving on to the next new life cycle. The SDLC in regards to healthcare includes a needs assessment of the entire organization; therefore, it will include physicians and ancillary professionals in the assessment.
