I have chosen the multi-syllabus as I believe it fits well with the student’s
needs. Drawing from his needs analysis questionnaire and oral interview this
type of syllabus allows for a variety of topics, authentic material, and
vocabulary to keep him engaged and motivated in his English language
learning. As his motivation is intrinsic and wants to improve his English for a
job in an English-speaking country or furthering his career back home in
Spain, listening and speaking with improved fluency and pronunciation is
essential. This syllabus has been designed to meet his personal topic choices
with authentic material and the skills he wants to improve.
The topics environment, science, travel, current affairs and interview skills
have been chosen as they relate to his personal preferences. Taking the
topics he is interested in to shape the syllabus will ensure he is focused,
motivated, and interested in the lessons to help achieve his objective of
improving his English language skills.
The target language has been chosen based on the lesson topics which
allows a wide variety of vocabulary to be introduced for pronunciation
practise which will improve accuracy and fluency. The receptive (listening)
