This essay will critically address tourism’s theories associated with Sydney contemporary
society. The paper will narrate the holiday I had with my daughter and husband last
Christmas. Therefore, the essay’s content will describe my personal experience about
Sydney’s holiday, including prior planning departure. In this work, I will explain how I
organised the holiday booking according to my personal experience, which involves
technology innovation for nowadays consumers. Theories related to the social and tourism
aspect will be explored and explained under my personal views, and by the way, I see others
concerning contemporary society.

Last Christmas I and my family went to visit Australia. I believe that my husband wants to
celebrate our marriage decade with this memorable international holiday
I first went to an agency for some advice about the visa which I got disappointed since I paid
£ 50 for it without receiving any following email confirmation from the agency. When I went
back for clarification, the travel agency said that only they could verify that my holiday visa
went through.
Unfortunately, my husband kept questioning for this matter since he was not trusting the
agency ending with procuring another visa online. Luckily, I didn’t need to pay for the visa
again because the Australian embassy website was releasing travel visa-free of charge up to
six months staying. Therefore, I got very disappointed that the agency made me pay for the
visa when the embassy website gives it for free.
Consequently, I wrote a complain letter to the agency and the ABTA. Unfortunately, I could
not get my refund back.
Because this inconvenient with the travel agency- Sta in Victoria station, my husband and I
decided not to make any further booking with them but instead relay to the internet of trusted
websites. Therefore, we booked the flight and the hotel through the internet as we believed
more reliable and affordable than a travel agency.
Situations like this one give me the realisation of how much the tourism industry changed.
Before the availability of internet as we have today, people used relaying paying extra money
to the travel agency for booking visa, hotel and attractions including their commissions.
