In the scenario, they had 6 computers. In my solution, I suggested they could replace them all with
new computers. I suggested this because it doesn’t state what OS they use or how much RAM they
have. If the current computers OS isn’t Windows 10 and don’t have at least 8 GB of RAM, Cinnamon
Agricultural Services should consider replacing them. Another way they could upgrade the
computers is replacing the RAM and installing Windows 10 onto them. If they could do this, it would
save them money because they would only have to purchase parts of the computer rather than new
computers entirely. A downside to changing the computers at Cinnamon Agricultural Services is it
will cause downtime for them. Replacing or changing the computers will take a while to do and
would slow doesn’t the amount of customer they can sell to a day. To avoid this, some of the system
can be replaced before others for example, the Shops Assistants computer could be replaced before
the Office Managers. This will enable Cinnamon Agricultural Services to keep business going and
implement the solution at the same time.
The scenario doesn’t say anything about them having a server. In my solution, I suggested a cloud
based server. This is because the server can be accessed remotely from the computers at the
organisation as long as they have an internet connection. It also allows the system to be expanded,
to enable the manager to access work from home. A downside to using cloud storage is the
connection could be intercepted. This can happen when data is being transmitted from a computer
to the server and another person steals the transmitted file. To avoid this, Cinnamon Agricultural
Services could use a VPN to secure the transmitted data efficiently. Using a VPN will prevent hackers
from stealing the file, keeping it safe in the process.
In the scenario, it didn’t mention they had antivirus software installed onto them. In my solution, I
suggested AVG for the computers. This is because if they pay for a subscription, it can protect users
on their web browser. If a staff member goes onto a malicious website, AVG can stop the browser
from causing damage to the computer. An alternative is if Cinnamon Agricultural Services doesn’t
want to pay for an antivirus, they can use the free version of AVG. This will still allow them to detect
and remove viruses off the system, however they wouldn’t have as many features such as browser
protection.
Overall, I think my solution meets the needs for Cinnamon Agricultural Services because it supplies
new computers, provides a secure system, allows the possibility to access the system remotely and
enables access to cameras. My solution makes it simple for staff to work efficiently without having to
troubleshoot the system frequently.
