PHYSICS: PROJECTILE MOTION PRACTICE WORD PROBLEMS WITH SOLUTIONS

PROJECTILE MOTION
PHYSICS
PRACTICE WORD PROBLEMS WITH SOLUTIONS

1) A ball is thrown with an initial velocity of 4.47m/s at an angle of 66° above the horizontal. Find:
a) How long it takes the ball to land on the ground?
b) How high the ball rises?
c) The range (𝑑𝑥 )

2) A player kicks the football from the ground level with a velocity of 27m/s at an angle of 30° above
horizontal. Find:
a) Time the ball is in the air.
b) Range
c) Maximum Height

3) A golfer strikes her tee shot at 125m/s with an angle of 32° above horizontal.
a. Assume the golf hole is level. Calculate:
b. The time of flight (assume up is +)
c. The horizontal distance traveled.
d. The maximum height the ball reached.
e. Graph or illustrate.

4) A little girl throws her jackstone ball horizontally, out of the window with a velocity of 30m/s. if the
window and the ground is 3m above the ground level, how far will the ball travel before it hits the
ground?

5) A golf ball was hit and projected at an angle of 60° with the horizontal. If the initial velocity of the ball is
50m/s (neglect air resistance), calculate:
a) Time the golf was in the air.
b) Horizontal distance the ball travelled.
c) Maximum height of the ball reached.

6) A boy throws a stick out horizontally out of the window located 30m above the ground. How far does
the stick travel before it reaches the ground if the velocity is 8m/s?

7) A soccer ball is kicked horizontally off a 20.00m high hill and lands a distance of 35.0m from the edge of
the hill. Determine the 𝑉𝑖𝑥 (initial horizontal velocity) of the soccer ball.

8) The player hits the ball and projects it with an angle of 50° with the horizontal. The initial velocity of the
ball is 60m/s. If air resistance is negligible, calculate:
a) The time the ball was in the air.
b) The horizontal distance the ball has travelled.
c) The highest point reached by the ball.
